I was all over the 11th Annual Euphoria Greenville this weekend in downtown Greenville. I hit the Greenville Kickoff Party, Feast by the Field, Something to Wine About Wine Class with Laurie Forster, Farm to Fork: All-Female Chef Dinner at Serenity Farm featuring famed NC Chef Vivian Howard, South Carolina Chef Ambassador Chef Teryi Youngblood and Grits and Groceries Chef Heidi Trull. I wrapped it all up with Sunday Brunch. Four days of eating my face off and chatting it up with all of my foodie friends from near and far. People stopped me over and over again to ask about my favorite dish. Here’s a sampling.
The top things I ate at Euphoria Greenville were…
Lewis BBQ Brisket
Holy crap. Melt in your mouth, tender heaven. We’ve eaten at Lewis Barbecue in Charleston, and folks, it’s the best meat you’ll ever put in your face. It was the longest line at Sunday Brunch!
You are totally going to think I’m lying on this one. The nice folks at the Lowes Foods tent offered me a chicken wing to try, and it was seriously eye rolling good, and one of the best things I ate all weekend. I was as shocked as you are! Lowes Foods opened their first South Carolina store in Greer during Euphoria weekend. If I go missing, look for me in Lowes Foods grocery store. I’ll be in the bakery case with a bucket full of chicken wings and and a belly full of cute little square cakes.
If they were giving this ice cream away in a pint, I’d have asked for a gallon. It was 90-something degrees outside, folks, and this little bonbon size frozen deliciousness was perfect for cooling off. Yes, my friends, they’ve figured out how to make ice cream out of alcohol. I can’t wait to get a pint of my very own from Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery!
I love a dish that surprises me. (Yes, I looked up Linguica and Sauce Gibriche for you.) I loved the creativity and the textures on this plate. The juices soaked down into the charred bread, and the flavor had me throwing my gluten allergy to the wind for just one more bite. Home Team BBQ sure hit this one out of the park at Sunday Brunch at Fluor Field!
Southern Smoke BBQ Collard Soup
Another surprise was the Collard Soup from Garland, North Carolina based Southern Smoke BBQ. If chowder and greens and barbecue had a baby, this would be it. Think he’ll give me the recipe for New Years? Not likely. This recipe is on lock down, folks. You better plan a road trip for this one.
Okay, I know she’s a NicLive PR client, and the fact that I’ve had this dish a dozen times gives her a leg up… maybe, but I LOVE Never Blue‘s Beet Salad, and so did the masses at Euphoria. Chef Jesse’s knack for explosive flavor shines in her dish of Malbec Roasted Red Beets, Chardonnay Pickled Beets with Peppered Goat Cheese Mousse and Marcona Almond Dust. You’ll have to go to her Main Street Hendersonville, NC restaurant to try it for yourself.
I can’t possibly tell you about every delicious vittle I consumed during the four day event, but these are a few of the ones burned into my memory for a long, long time. Euphoria returns to Greenville September 21-24, 2017. Tickets will go on sale in the Spring. Make plans to join me there!
