Big news from Charleston Cooks! Acclaimed cookbook author Sheri Castle is dropping into their kitchen on Thursday, November 6 at 6:30pm for a cooking class to promote her new cookbook “Southern Cooking with Sheri Castle.” The participation class is $65 per person and reservations are required.
Chef Castle’s visit to Charleston Cooks! is well timed with the hot off the press release of her new cookbook titled The Southern Living Community Cookbook: Celebrating Food & Fellowship in the American South. It’s on my coffee table at home and is FANTASTIC. I think it might be Travelers Rest Cookbook Book Club selection for our next Cookbook Review Party!
“The New Southern Garden Cookbook” was Castle’s first cookbook, released in 2011. The book was named Best Southern Cookbook of the Year by the Southern Independent Booksellers Association. “The Southern Living Community Cookbook” is described as more than a cookbook. It contains tried and true recipes, tips, hits and food stories you’ll come back to again and again.
Castle’s cookbooks make terrific gifts for cooks of all ages and skill levels. I think this one might be on my gift list this year! Copies of the books will be available for sale at Charleston Cooks! and the author will be available to autograph cookbooks after the class.
On November 6, class participants will prepare and enjoy a delicious menu that includes the following: Sirloin Strip Steaks in Old Kentucky Bourbon Marinade; Cheese Dreams; Grilled Romaine with Buttermilk Chive Dressing; Spinach Parmesan; Decadent Scalloped Potatoes; and Homemade Banana Pudding with Real Vanilla Custard.
