Last week I got a sneak peek of Table 301’s new restaurant endeavor, Jianna. The restaurant is set to open in March of 2017 and is the passion project of Table 301 Restaurant Group Executive Chef of Culinary Operations, Michael Kramer.
Jianna brings Modern Italian to Greenville
With Jianna, Chef Michael Kramer says he’s finally serving the food that he wants to eat. The modern Italian kitchen in Greenville, South Carolina will also feature freshly shucked oysters. The restaurant will have an open kitchen, massive bar and pasta making area to allow the team to make fresh pasta daily. Pasta will be made in-house with a La Monferrina extruder. The menu will also feature hand-rolled pastas, crudo and antipasti dishes featuring local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible.
Modern Take on Classic Cocktails
Table 301 Corporate Beverage Director, Anjoleena Griffin-Holst served up a glimpse of Jianna’s cocktail menu at the event with her take on the classic Negroni.
The name Jianna comes from a modern Italian restaurant once located just outside of San Francisco of the same name that was owned by one of Kramer’s culinary mentors . The restaurant has long since closed, his mentor, Marc Valiani, lost to ALS, but Valiani’s spirit carries on in Kramer’s Jianna restaurant in downtown Greenville, SC.
Kramer has a track record for opening the Best New Restaurants in America. Under his culinary leadership, McCrady’s in Charleston won the coveted title in 1999 from Esquire. A decade later he received the same nod for Voice in Houston from both Esquire and Travel & Leisure in 2009.
Jianna, already one of the most anticipated restaurant openings of 2017, will kick off another calendar year of culinary growth and national coverage for Greenville, South Carolina.
Jianna will be located at the corner of downtown Greenville’s Main Street and Falls Park Drive, on the second floor of the new Falls Park Place development. Construction on the development is now underway.
