Euphoria 2015 has come to a close, and after four days of foodie bliss, I’m left with some beautiful memories and a terrible stomach bug. Didn’t see that coming, did you? I was SO bummed to miss Sunday Supper, the grand finale of Euphoria, but at least I have something to look forward to next year! 364 days until Euphoria 2016, but who’s counting?!
I tried to narrow my Euphoria highlights down to three big moments, but it was impossible! I met SC Governor Nikki Haley AND she followed me on Instagram! Fete Magazine took this beautiful photo during our meet.
I FINALLY met Edwin McCain after more than a decade of trying and grabbed a photo with him and Greenville restaurateur Carl Sobocinski. Did you know that Edwin and Carl started Euphoria ten years ago?
I met James Beard winner and Oprah’s former personal Chef, Art Smith. DEF OMG moment. There’s too much! The food was amazing! During the Taste of the South Edwin McCain Concert, I had a pinch myself moment when I realized I was at the cool kids table. I’ve admired so many people in the Greenville food scene for so long, and when I stopped dancing and singing and looked to the left and right of me, I realized I was standing right in the middle of them. And so many Gap Creek Gourmet fans came up to me during Euphoria to tell me they loved the blog and were excited to meet me! I’m still shaking my head. Can this be happening?!
I’ll wrap up the whole experience in a post later this week.
Musts for Fall
Must Have Food:
Fall is two days away! Thank God, because this 90 degree weather is killing me. I’m totally digging the new flavors of fall, but let’s take a commercial break and check out Oreo’s new summer-throwback flavor, Toasted Coconut. If you’re shamelessly digging the new Pumpkin Spice Oreos, you might also want to try the Caramel Apple Oreos! I’d stay clear of the Thins. With that little filling? What a waste of cookie!
And of course, there’s pumpkin, pecan pie, and apple spice everywhere! Some of my faves?
Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Liqueur. And it’s not just amazing over ice! Here are some amazing recipes, if you can keep yourself from sipping your way through the whole bottle!
I am savoring the pint of Ben and Jerry’s Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream in my freezer one spoonful while standing in front of the freezer at a time.
Pumpkin Cream Cheese from Trader Joe’s. I look for this every year. It’s AMAZING on toast… and by the spoonful.
Pumpkin Pie M&M’s are my new fave. Pumpkin Pie flavored filling coated with chocolate? Yes, please. Move over Candy Corn flavored M&M’s!
Have you seen the Whole Foods 365 brand Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Sandwiches? I’m on a mission! I must try these.
Fire Forge Brewery is opening Summer 2016 in Greenville. They were set up at Euphoria and I tried their Pumpkin Royale Imperial Pumpkin Ale. I seriously could drink this with French Toast in the morning. Cinnamon, nutmet, cloves, allspice, ginger, vanilla beans… a hint of sweet. Delish. To hold you over, until you can get your hands on this fall brew, the New Belgium Pumpkick Ale will do.
Must Watch TV:
Fred Savage + Rob Lowe = Grinder. No, they aren’t getting it on. (Dirty mind you have!) They are starring in the new comedy, The Grinder. It’s a must and def on my DVR.
What to wear:
Google Fashion 1990’s. Your welcome.
And here’s what’s happening in #yeahTHATgreenville:
Greenbrier Farms is HOPPING this Fall with their Front Porch Music Series and two very hot dinners coming up. It’s definitely not too soon to get in on their Winter butchering classes either.
Most of our farmers markets are shutting down for the season, but the TR Farmers Market Harvest Market is just getting started. Their Thursday evening farmers markets run 5:30-8:30 through the month of October and feature local farmers, crafts and food trucks. It’s a blast!
Feel like hitting the road for a Foodie Road Trip? Join me in Chapel Hill for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Small Plate Crawl coming Sept. 29-Oct. 1! Twenty of the hottest restaurants in Tar Heel Country and plenty of small Plates to go around. More info?
Have a happy Monday!
