It’s Monday Mashup time! You might notice Gap Creek Gourmet looks a little different these days! My team is moving the blog to a new format so be patient while we get all of the links/photos/videos fixed. Things may be a little wonky for a month or so, so be patient.
Here we go…
I am OBSESSED with my Erin Condren day planner. One day I was digging around Pinterest and found an entire culture of people who deck out their day planners with Washi tape and STICKERS! I was so excited I could barely sleep that night. It was like Christmas… in August. I haven’t been this excited about something since I found out Starbucks had a Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Yes, I went there. It’s almost time, you know… ) I was that kid who had sticker albums: scratch and sniff, sparkle stickers you could buy in the machines at the skating rink, puffy stickers, Garbage Pail kids… Those were the days when I’d flip the laundry basket over and pretend it was my teacher desk. My poor stuffed animals! I ran a tight ship. Back to the stickers. I’m obsessed. Here are some of my faves. I am also nursing a Papermate felt tip pen addiction. Their Flair pens are the BEST because they don’t bleed through your paper, which is a def plus.
Did you know that M&M’s are rolling out a new Pumpkin Pie flavor for fall? I’m beside myself.
Tomorrow is back-to-school day for Greenville County. I keep seeing all of your Facebook photos of your children in cute first day of school outfits. My child? Blue jeans and a t’shirt. I never thought I’d envy parents of a high maintenance child, but (sigh) this time of year, I do! I want to buy her cute stuff. She almost caved and let me buy her a flannel shirt, but when I said she’d wear it over a tank top, she recanted. At least she does share my love of notebooks. We can browse the back-to-school supply isle forever! There’s something so promising and hopeful about a brand new notebook, don’t you agree?
I’ve been traveling a lot again. My family is about to revolt, but ’tis the season for bloggers! I just got back from Lake Lure’s Dirty Dancing Festival. Yes, there is such thing! I was SO excited to finally get there after years of wishing I could go. I grabbed my girlfriend and we were off. Friday Night was AMAZING. We watched the movie in the park on Lake Lure. It was a gorgeous, chilly night. Perfect for a movie. The rest of the festival? Kind of a bust. There were thousands of people there, but it was more shag fest meets line dancing and less dirty dancing. We were hoping to see more grinding. Don’t judge. We did get in some great kayaking on Lake Lure and saw the rock stairs from the movie that Jennifer Gray (aka Baby) walked up several times. That was a plus!
We took a detour on the way home and hit Overmountain Vineyards in Tryon, NC. North Carolina has more than 144 wineries. There were five of them right around Overmountain and I’m definitely scheduling a weekend wine tour soon to hit Parker-Binns Vineyards, Mountain Brook Vineyards, and Green Creek Winery.
At Overmountain I bought a bottle of the Muscadine wine. It’s not sweet like you’d think! More refreshing like a Sauvignon Blanc and when I closed my eyes and took a sip, I was taken back to the times I’ve plucked Muscadines from the vine. One of my favorite fall things to do, is to get a bag of Muscadines (purple) or Scuppernogs (big, yellowish) and eat them while I’m driving home. I guess spitting the skins out my window is possibly considered littering, now that I think about it…
I take a TON of pictures. In the scrapbooking years, I would print out or order hundreds of them and file my favorites away to be scrapbooked later. I keep thinking that if technology randomly goes bust (hey, it could happen!), we would lose all of our photos! So I’m printing again. Mostly, my Instagram photos. Snapfish does great 4×4 prints and I’ve even gotten some 12×12 prints from Global Print! They fit amazing in the matted 12×12 frames from Ikea. I’m still looking for creative ways to display all of my 4×4’s. I’m thinking GIANT canvas. I’m still collecting until I figure it out. Suggestions?
OMG! While we were on our weekend trip, I discovered the MTV series Awkward. I watched a serious marathon while we were crashed out in our air conditioned room playing on our phones (lame, but TOTALLY relaxing). I’m gonna have to find it on demand and watch all of the episodes I’ve missed. A must check out.
Did you know about Club W? I LOVE it. Three or more bottles delivered to my door once a month. I think I’ve gotten three shipments so far, and I loved all 9 bottles. Definitely worth investigating if you love wine.
Food trucks still make my heart go boom. We were excited to see BKeD was parked outside of Westbrook Brewing Co. last week on Mount Pleasant. Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese? Yes, please! And while you’re at it, I’ll take the Cream Cheese topped Cinnamon Roll, Reese cookie, and Banana Pudding… and another grilled cheese. I reviewed BKeD on Yelp! Go check it out.
That’s all I got folks. Happy Monday night. Here’s to an awesome week!
