Happy Fall everyone! Can you believe this weather? My Travelers Rest Brunch Bunch met at Soby’s last week and I sat outside in the sunshine sipping on a Mimosa before heading inside for brunch. Tell me THAT’s not heaven!
IN THE KNOW.
Competition Dining wrapped up in Greenville last week. Cliff’s Chef Todd Warden and his team took home the red chef jacket, $2000 and a custom chef knife. That’s one talented guy. Too bad you have to be a member of Cliff’s to eat at their restaurants, right?
I receive emails and texts from people every day asking me where to eat in #yeahTHATgreenville. Suggestions for lunching in Greenville got a lot easier when I put a call out to my Facebook peeps. You will be stumped for lunch choices no more: Roost, OJ’s Diner, Brick Street Cafe, Henry’s Smokehouse, The Lazy Goat, Saigon (across from Taco Casa), Luna Rosa, Adam’s Bistro, Sacha’s, Pita House, Universal Joint, Rainer’s.
I know Summer is pretty much over, but there are some people on your holiday shopping list who are going to want this! Drinking on the beach just got a lot easier (meaning sneaky) with this Coffee Cup Koozie Beer Disguise.
McDonald’s has a new Secret Menu! Well, kind of…
I am incredibly obsessed with my day planner. When I found out Staples is carrying a new Erin Condren line , I ran out the door for the hour round trip (because that was a good use of my time) to see what all they have! I got there a little too early for the shelf stockers, but the good news is, they will be carrying the new Erin Condren notebooks, day planners, wedding planners, stickers, notepads, markers, the whole shebang. So excited! Find out if Erin Condren is at your local Staples.
FOODIE NEWS AND CAN’T MISS EVENTS:
I’m still waiting on news from the folks at Secret Table who recently posted some obscure photos on their Facebook page to indicate a brick and mortar is not far on the horizon. I’m also waiting on news from Aaron Manter, former Chef extraordinaire of the The Owl and most recently of Genevieve’s at the Peace Center, who said he’s currently in menu development for a new project. Stay tuned, cause I’ve heard rumors on this project and it’s gonna be a goodie.
Greenville’s Papi’s Tacos is on the move.
Papi’s Tacos has opened its second location with a third on the way. The “food truck without wheels” features a simple menu of tacos, tortas, salsas and dips from Table 301’s very own Papi who uses the same authentic recipes served at his own family’s table. The tacqueria’s second location has opened inside the Growler Haus in downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina. Papi’s Tacos third location will be opening this fall in The Growler Haus in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.*Check out their $2 Taco Tuesdays!
Greenville TedxSalon: Thought for Food September 15 6:30pm @ Zen 924 S. Main Street Greenville
For many, if not for most of us, Greenville is a thriving city — and a well-fed city, with bulging supermarkets, crowded farmers markets, and scores of local farms selling healthy, culturally appropriate food directly to our residents. But for many in our area, ready access to healthful food is a struggle, either because they live in “food deserts” — areas where good foods are not just around the corner and available — or because limited income does not seem to offer healthful alternatives to processed foods. The September TEDxGreenvilleSalon looks at these issues through the voices of two advocates spreading a ministry of better nutritional access and knowledge throughout the community.
Tickets available here.
