Okay, folks, if you’ve finished the podcast Serial and you’re digging around for something to satiate your aural palate, here are a list of some of the amazing food culture podcasts out there right now. Download them now and listen to them later. Binge listening is encouraged. Enjoy.
I just discovered Around the Table, a podcast by two foodie and crafty friends in Charleston, South Carolina and I want to be these girls’ best friend. Nutritionist chef Maggie McDaris of The Spread joins blogger Jacey Verdicchio of The Balanced Wife to talk food, intentional living, hospitality, and the ups and downs of life as 20-something hipster chicks. I’m a little out of my 20’s… but my brain isn’t and dang it, they are just plain fun.
The first Splendid Table podcast I listened to, Lynne Kasper was interviewing Isaac Mizrahi and learning how to make an easy vinaigrette. I dig him. (I was obsessed with his first show on television circa 2001, not so much his QVC stuff…) Anyway, from that moment, I was hooked. Her captivating interviews cover everything from how to pair wine with Doritos and other junk food, an interview with Jaques Pepin, and the more technical aspects of cooking without being over your head. She’s like the Martha Stewart meets Oprah of podcasts.
If you’re a fan of Andrew Zimmern and his show Bizarre Foods, then you’ll love his podcast. Produced weekly, Go Fork Yourself explores food through interviews with chefs, foodies, and celebrities, and provides commentary on the experience of cooking and eating.
For this podcast, buddies Molly and Matthew sit down together and explore one food… like waffles. The entire podcast is devoted to eating, exploring and discussing the magical world of waffles. They dig back to their childhood occasionally to talk about sugary cereals like Cocoa Pebbles or candy and have covered everything from meatballs and honey to energy drinks, mushrooms, marshmallows and salt. It’s definitely good listening. But I guarantee you’ll be running to the store after.
From cocktails to decor, Andy, Greg, and Nathan will talk you through your next cocktail party. This podcast is focused on food and entertaining, and the hosts keep things fun each week with great tips and recipes for all types of parties.
Sommelier Elizabeth Schneider calls her show “the podcast for people who like wine but not the snobbery that goes with it”. I love this podcast because it explores the world of wine in a way that does’t put people off or fly over their heads. Plus, there’s a good dose of humor and pop culture thrown in. What’s not to love?
Jeff and Greg are the evangelists of good beer. During each podcast, they try a new brew. It’s a winner for more adventurous beer drinkers! Drink up!
Food industry folks, this podcast is for you. It’s hosted by entrepreneurs launching food brands, and the information they provide is incredibly helpful.
