Can’t Miss Events for Spring 2015
Did you know there’s a little winery tucked into Northern Greenville county? It’s absolutely beautiful and deserves a visit if you’ve not been there before. Victoria Valley Vineyard is having a Wine Dinner in their barrel Room Saturday, March 21 at 7pm to celebrate their new 2014 Vintage white wine releases… and the beautiful Springtime weather! Chef Shane Clary has created a special four course dinner with wine pairings from Victoria Valley. The menu includes: Smoked tomato bisque with Prickle shrimp, grilled crouton, bas,il creme- NEW RELEASE 2014 Vintner’s Select Sauvignon Blanc; Seared duck breast over greens, wild berry vinaigrette, fried shallots, goat cheese crouton- NEW RELEASE 2014 LOLA’S BEST (Petit Manseng/Sauvignon Blanc Blend); Grilled petite filet of beef with port sauce, pan seared scallops, goat cheese flan, fried leeks, grand marnier & maple beurre blanc, cheddar and gruyere potato gratin, & harocot vertes sauteed in white wine and garlic- 2012 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon; and Creme Brulee with fresh berries & chantilly creme paired with NEW RELEASE 2014 Signature Chardonnay. If you love good food, it’s time for a road trip! Some of the top chefs of the South are headed to Hickory, NC on March 23 for the annual Kyle and Friends Chefs Dinner. Executive Chef Anthony Gray of Bacon Brothers, Chef de Cuisine Todd Woods of Seven Sows, Pastry Chef Rebeca Alvarado Parades and Executive Chef Jameson Chavez from manna in Wilmington, Executive Chef/Owner James Doss from Rx and Pembroke’s in Wilmington, Executive Chef/Owner Jason Smith from 18 Seaboard, Harvest 18 and Cantina 18 in Raleigh-Durham, Executive Chef Stephen Sharp from Ink and Elm in Atlanta, and Chef de Cuisine Chris Edwards from Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg, Virginia. It’s not just a dinner, it’s an experience you’ll long remember. The event starts with a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres at The Crossing at Hollar Mill where guests have the opportunity to mingle with chefs, and culminates in a dinner to remember at Highland Avenue Restaurant. Greenville Small Plate Crawl returns to the Upstate March 24-26. Last year more than 750 people crawled 24 participating restaurants and sampled the best of Greenville’s food scene. This year there are new restaurants, bigger prizes and more crawling fun. Also new to the crawl this year is the Six and Twenty Spirits Challenge. Bartenders are coming up with unique cocktails using Six & Twenty Spirits to battle it out for top prize. The winner, picked by famed Columbia restauranteur, Kristian Niemi, will get $100 cash and other prizes from Six & Twenty. Crawlers can sample the beverages too! They are a part of the restaurants’ Small Plate Menu, a sampling of small bites priced $3-$8. So how do you crawl? I always look forward to Euphoria events. Those folks know how to throw one hell of a party! Join me on April 11 at The Loft at Soby’s for Roast & Toast presented by The Cliffs. This is the big Euphoria 2015 Ticket Launch Event and they are bringing out the big guns. Experience Oysters from Rappahannock River Oysters, LLC and sample the talent of renowned Pitmaster John Lewis from La Barbecue “Cuisine Texicana” (named BEST BARBECUE in Austin). Oh, that’s not all! Queen of cocktails, Liquid Catering, will be serving up drinks using Firefly Spirits and Larceny Bourbon and PERFORMANCE Foodservice Milton’s will be handling delicious desserts. When you’re tired of dancing to the tunes of The Erica Berg Collective, dose up on Due South Coffee and dance some more. Only $65 per ticket for all you can eat and drink.
Euphoria turns 10 years old this year, so if you haven’t been to the nationally acclaimed food and wine event, this is your year. Reedy River Jazz and Wine Festival
I somehow miss the Reedy River Jazz and Wine Festival every year, but it is definitely one of the biggest tickets in town, AND dear to the hearts in our family since it benefits the Ronald McDonald House. Enjoy food and wine on the banks of the Reedy River at the TD Stage at The Peace Center with music by Anderson University Jazz Ensemble, Doug Norwine Trio, Loretta Holloway, Joe Gransden Quartet.
