Greenville’s Nose Dive Gastropub and Stone Brewing Company are teaming up next Thursday, August 21, for a five course dinner with beer pairings. The menu includes grit tots with chili jam, heirloom tomato pie, scallop mousse, Greenbrier pork loin and more. Are you drooling yet? I am! Bring it on!

This is a great opportunity to check out Nose Dive’s new head chef. Chef Craig Kuhns was promoted to Chef de Cuisine at Nose Dive this July. He’s not new to Greenville, though, or to Table 301. Chef Kuhns started working at Soby’s in 2010 and then moved to Devereaux’s under Executive Chef Spencer Thomson. Kuhns is an Easley, South Carolina boy and attended Johnson and Wales where he earned culinary arts and restaurant and hotel management degrees. He spent a little time down in Charleston’s culinary scene putting in time at Basil, Coast, Siena, Palmetto Cafe in Charleston Place, The Charleston Grill before heading back home to the Upstate. The menu from this dinner will give you a good taste of his talent. He’s including a little bit of land, sky and sea.
Stone Brewing Company might ring a bell, too. The brewery was shopping new locations and had its eye on South Carolina, sparking a change in legislation to hopefully lure them in. They found another home, but gained a few new fans from all of the local publicity.
“After tasting some of the beers with the guys from Stone, I was inspired by a lot of nuances I found in each of the beers,” says Chef Kuhns. “The 18th anniversary IPA has fruity, lemon, and tropical fruit notes, which pair well with the Scallop Mousse I’m planning for one of the courses.”

When asked about Stone skipping over Greenville for their new digs, Kuhns says, “I’ve been a fan of Stone Brewing Co. for a long time, so I’m very excited to team up with them. They’ve always been known for stepping outside the box, which lines up with my cooking style. I would have loved to see them come to Greenville, but we’re still excited to partner up with them and are glad to see the legislation changes that are taking place.”
This will be an intimate event, but a few tickets are still available so snag them up while you can. Tickets are $60 (tax and gratuity not included). Drinks and appetizers start at 6:3o pm and dinner is served at 7:00 pm.
